  • "The Name of the Game" is a US edit and not the 4.53 version listed above. The shorter edit became the more commonly used version from this compilation onwards for many years until the longer mix was reinstated on later copies of "ABBA Gold". This compilation was intended to be Greatest Hits Vol. 3 after failing to have enough material for a new studio album and just a handful of completed songs, the decision changed again and a double album of all 7" singles in one collection was decided to coincide with the 10 years anniversary. The collection is only complete in some territories though as some countries occasionally released different singles from current albums. Therefore only the generic ones are on this set. This was ABBA's eighth UK album chart topper prior to ABBA Gold some 10 years later. Some audiophiles cite the German Polydor CD as the best sounding versions of tracks included as different master copies were used for some of the tracks. This is before all the many remasters were created, bringing a whole load of controversy and debates among die hard fans.
